Sundays at Calvary
- 10 AM Sunday School (McCheyne Fellowship Hall)
- 11 AM Worship (Sanctuary)
At Calvary Presbyterian Church we gather each Sunday morning to worship God together. Our 11 AM service follows a historic Reformed liturgy, that is, we believe worship is a dialogue between God and His people, initiated by God who is both our Creator and our Redeemer. As such we come into His presence with thankfulness and joy but also with reverence and awe. This is reflected in the order and format of our service.
The preaching of God's Word is the central element in our Sunday morning service: God has made Himself known to us, His creation, through His Word and His Son, Jesus Christ. Preaching involves not only explaining what a passage of the Bible means, but also showing how it applies to our lives today. The first Sunday of each month is typically a Communion Service.
As we listen to God's Word preached, we respond with our hearts and minds, offering praise and worship to God in prayer and song. We sing hymns that have been written and sung by Christians across many centuries. Our congregational singing is led and accompanied by professional classical musicians. Our worship service is preceded by a Sunday School for adults, from 10 to 10:45 AM. This is taught by our Senior Pastor, Philip George, our interns, and on occasion, visiting guest speakers. This more informal gathering offers the opportunity to study and discuss a variety of topics.
