Order for the Worship of God on This Lord’s Day, September 18, 2022
Call to Worship: John 17:1-6 ESV Hymn of Exultation:The Mighty God, The Lord Prayer of Adoration
Faith Confession: Heidelberg Catechism (Z. Baer 1563) Question 2: How many things are necessary for thee to know, that thou in this comfort mayest live and die happily? Congregation: Three things: first, how great my sin and misery are; second, how I am set free from all my sins and misery;third, how I am to thank God for such deliverance. He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood, and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil. He also watches over me in such a way that not a hair can fall from my head without the will of my Father in heaven; in fact, all things must work together for my salvation. Because I belong to him, Christ, by his Holy Spirit, assures me of eternal life and makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready from now on to live for him.
Call to Confession: Ephesians 5:1-7 ESV Corporate Confession of Sin:Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions. Do not presentyour members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness. For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.
